Name: Savvy
Age: 4 Years
Sex: Spayed Female
Breed: Doberman
Dogs: No (see below)
Cats: Yes
Kids: No
Energy Level: Medium-High
Special Needs: Previous Cruciate Ligament Tear + surgical repair
Savvy is a local owner surrender who arrived to our program in 2021. She came from a very loving home and surrendering was a very difficult decision for her previous owner.
Savvy is absolutely stunning & the typical Doberman who is the ultimate Velcro dog! She wants to be with her people 24/7 and as close to you as possible. She is crate trained but would prefer sleeping in bed with her people & laying next to you on the couch. She thoroughly enjoys sunbathing outdoors & loves going for car rides too!
When Savvy arrived to our program we noticed her limping on one of her hind legs where she previous had surgery for a torn cruciate. Our veterinarian called in an orthopedic surgeon to come into the clinic to perform an exploratory procedure on her knee to try and determine the reason of her lameness. It turns out that the internal suture initially placed inside her knee had snapped and the joint was very infected as well. There was quite a lot of scar tissue in the knee as well and the surgeon was hopeful she would not require an additional surgery for her leg (TPLO).
What does that mean for the future? Savvy healed wonderful from her surgery and has not needed any additional procedures performed, however, with this being said she does have arthritis in this knee and there is a possibility of needing arthritis medication, or an additional procedure, in the future. Savvy is taking an oral joint supplement and has also received monthly Cartrophen injections and has not had any further issues with her leg. Savvy LOVES going for walks & swimming, however, her activity does need to be restricted to help prevent a flare up of the arthritis in the knee. She would love to be able to hike for days but walks do need to be cut back to 30-60 minutes only.
Currently Savvy is in a foster home with other dogs and cats. She would do best, however, in a home without other dogs at this time because she can be a bit pushy and can be possessive over her toys. She can be selective as to whom she wants to be her friend, however, she adores her foster brothers (Great Danes) and would spend all day playing with them outside if you let her. Savvy absolutely LOVES cats and would really like a kitty brother or sister (or many) in her new home. She loves snuggling up with the cats in her foster home and is giving them all as many kissses as they will allow.
Savvy is very fearful of bully breed dogs & reactive dogs in general. She was previously attacked by dogs more than once which is the cause of her reactivity. With a lot of training & TLC Savvy has built up some confidence & is much better now than when she arrived , however, she would be best suited in a home (no townhouses or condos) in a more rural or neighborhood setting where there are not a lot of other dogs. She walks well with her Halti & is extremely food motivated which is an extra added bonus to help with training.
Savvy is also a huge fun of car rides, dressing up and going to the vet!!! She also loves people and when guests come over she thoroughly enjoys being the center of attention. Savvy also LOVES toys & would be more than content tugging on a rope toy with her people for hours.
Is Savvy the love bug you have been waiting for?

Name: Hugo
Age: 10 Years
Sex: Neutered Male
Breed: Miniature Bull Terrier
Dogs: Not at this time
Cats: Not at this time
Kids: No
Energy Level: Medium
Special Needs: Allergies & heart murmur
Hugo is the latest addition to the Aide For Paws Family and came into our care after his owner suffered a life-changing injury as was no longer able
to care for Hugo.
As Hugo is a new arrival we are still getting to know more about him. He has seen our veterinary team for issues with ongoing allergies and is currently under medical treatment. Our vet discovered he does have a heart murmur and has send a referral to a radiologist who will be doing an ultrasound of his heart to help make sure Hugo is ok to undergo anesthesia (he does need dental work & to have some lumps removed).
What we do know is Hugo absolutely LOVES belly rubs and could play fetch all day long! He is an extremely sweet little guy who has a lot of pep in step for being a senior.
Stay tuned for more updates!

Name: Tiny Tim aka Timmy
Age: 3 months
Sex: Male
Breed: French Bulldog
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Yes
Kids: Yes
Energy Level: Medium - High
Special Needs: Atresia Ani
Tiny Tim is a breeder surrender and came to us from Campbell River a few weeks ago. We were told that he was having significant constipation issues that the breeder was not able to get under control. The breeder decided to surrender Timmy as their veterinarian recommended euthanasia & she wanted someone to give him a second chance.
When Tiny Tim arrived it was very evident that he was suffering from significant constipation. We took him to the Animal Emergency Clinic of the Fraser Valley to seek medical attention. An x-ray revealed he had SEVERE constipation & mega colon. Timmy was treated with an enema & we sought a referral to a surgeon at a local specialty hospital.
Timmy was diagnosed with a condition called Atresia Ani. This is a congenital birth defect where the rectum/anus is too small to pass stool. Thankfully there are treatment options for this condition. Tiny Tim has had 2 rectal dilation procedures since he arrived to our care and we are happy to report he is now able to pass stool on his own! We are very hopeful that Timmy's bowel movements will continue to get larger and hopefully in time he will be able to have a normal sized poop without the help of daily laxatives.
Tiny Tim will remain on medical hold until he has been cleared medically by our specialist at Boundary Bay Veterinary Specialty Hospital.
As one can imagine treatment for this condition is costly. Each dilation procedure for Tiny Tim costs $900-$1000. We are currently raising funds to help with Timmy's ongoing medical expenses. Want to help Tiny Tim? Donations can be made via E-transfer/PayPal to aide4paws@gmail.com or through our GoFundMe campaign at https://gofund.me/5cc79e86

Name: French Fry
Age: 4 Weeks
Sex: Male
Breed: French Bulldog
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Yes
Kids: Yes
Energy Level: Medium
Special Needs: Cleft Palate
French Fry is a local breeder surrender that came to us a few weeks ago when he was only 4 days old. He was having difficulty nursing from mom & after a visit to the vet it was discovered that he has cleft palate. Cleft palate is a birth defect where the roof of the mouth does not grow together properly. There are varying degrees of severity of cleft palate from a very minor opening to severe where most of the palate is open. French Fry has mild-moderate cleft palate. As a result he could not nurse from his mother and was failing to thrive.
When French Fry arrived to our care he weighed in at a tiny 177 grams. He was significantly dehydrated and for the first few days it was very touch & go. We bottle fed the little guy every 1-2 hours for the first week to try and rehydrate him and help build up some strength. French Fry turned out to be quite the little fighter! He is now 4 weeks old & no longer needs to be bottle fed. He is eating kibble on his own and drinking from a rabbit water bottle to help prevent him from accidental aspiration. It is quite amazing seeing this little guy grow up! As of July 29th French Fry is weighing 813 grams!!!!
French Fry will remain on medical hold until he is at least 8-12 weeks old. As he grows we are hopeful that his palate starts to close a little bit more & he will not require surgical repair

CLAWDIA |

Name: Clawdia
Age: 10-11 Months
Sex: Spayed Female
Breed: DSH
Dogs: Yes (see below)
Cats: Not at this time
Kids: Older Children
Energy Level: Medium
Special Needs: N/A
Clawdia and Whispurr are a bonded pair of sisters and are looking for a home to call their own. The girls arrived to our program earlier this year. They are extremely bonded litter mates and therefore MUST be adopted to the same home. The girls were originally taken in by their previous owners as feral kittens. They are a bit nervous of new people but as soon as they become settled and more familiar with the home they are the biggest cuddlers ever. Clawdia is the more confident, independent & outgoing of the 2 sisters. She doesn't mind the dogs in her foster home and is the first one to check out new things. Clawdia is very playful, goes bonkers for catnip and absolutely LOVES food & treats. Clawdia is not a fan of plastic crates and does much better travelling in a soft mesh carrying bag. She is also not the biggest fan of pedicures at home & is a lot more tolerant of getting her nails trimmed at the vet clinic (especially when there is an endless supply of treats being given).
Clawdia sure does loves her night time cuddles too!
Adoption fee for the duo is $400. This includes:
- Spays
- Tattoos
- Feline Leukemia & FIV Testing (negative)
- 2 sets of vaccines
- Deworming (has been done twice)
- Flea treatment (has been done twice)
- Free trial of pet insurance
Age: 10-11 Months
Sex: Spayed Female
Breed: DSH
Dogs: Yes (see below)

They are a bit nervous of new people but as soon as they become settled and more familiar with the home they are the biggest cuddlers ever. Whispurr is the more timid of the 2 sisters and does need a little bit more time to get settled into a new environment. She gets her confidence from her sister (Clawdia could be dubbed Whispurr's emotional support kitty). Once she has settled in she is definitely the more playful of the duo. She could spend the entire day playing with a cat wand toy and boy can she jump high to get it! Whispurr will also chase her own tail and looks mighty adorable doing so! She is also known for jumping off her cat post and having zoomies around the house. Whispurr is a bit more timid around the dogs in her foster home - she would be ok with a family that has a lower energy dog who is also respectful of her space.
As Whispurr is a bit more on the timid side she can be scared of sudden movements & loud noises. She is, however, the more snuggly of the 2 kittens and is very content laying in your lap & cuddling.

ame: Tipsy
Age: 9 Months
Sex: Spayed Female
Breed: Ragdoll x
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Yes
Kids: Yes
Energy Level: Low - Medium
Special Needs: Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH)
Tipsy is another local surrender. She came to us after her breeder left her with a good samaritan who quickly discovered they were not equipped to work with Tipsy's special needs. Tipsy was born with a medical condition called Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH) aka Wobbly Cat Syndrome. This causes her to be unsteady on her feet and she walks around looking like she is drunk (which is how she got her name). Her symptoms increase when she is really focusing on something like a favourite toy or a bowl of food. CH does has varying levels of severity ranging from mild symptoms that are barely noticeable all the way to severe where a cat cannot walk on it's own. Tipsy's symptoms are moderate - she is able to run & play, eat & drink on her own and she even uses the litter box with all of the other cats. With that being said Tipsy cannot jump onto furniture or go up & down stairs so it is very important that she finds a forever family who can ensure her safety around stairs. Tipsy also may require regular grooming to help keep herself tidy. She is able to use a regular litterbox, however, she goes to the bathroom laying on her side. Tipsy does spend extra time in the litterbox scritching to cover her bowel movements & on occasion will get some on her fur. With that being said she had had several baths while in our care and she is fantastic while in the tub!
Tipsy is currently in a foster home with several other cats as well as dogs ranging in size from less that 1 pound all the way up to 180 pounds. She absolutely loves playing with toys and even wrestling with her new French Bulldog foster brother & BFF. She also enjoys being brushed, cuddling on the couch and schmoozing guests when they come over for lots of love. Tipsy was born with CH so she has no idea that she is any different than any of the other animals in the home. She truly is an amazing little girl & deserves the best forever home.

Name: Rex
Age: Senior (approximately 12)
Sex: Neutered Male
Breed: German Shepherd X
Dogs: Yes
Cats: Yes
Kids: Yes
Energy Level: Low
Special Needs: Yes - weakness in the hind end
Meet Rex. This sweet senior boy was found abandoned in the rain in the Bridgeview area of Surrey. He
was not wearing a collar and did not have either a tattoo or a microchip for identification. Many ads
were placed and circulated via social media and all of the local shelters were contacted but no family
was ever located.
Rex came into our care morbidly obese and very weak in the hind end. All of his extra body fat was not
doing his legs any favors so immediately he was placed on a strict diet. Rex visited to our local veterinarian where he quickly captured their hearts. He was placed on medication to help with his obvious hind end pain and other than that, and a few minor lumps and bumps, he was given a pretty good bill of health.
After the first week Rex had remarkably lost 5 pounds. It was discovered that he absolutely loves doggy daycare and trying to keep up with his new puppy friends. Rex has also begun gaining some muscle mass back into his weak hind legs. We are hoping with continued diet and exercise he will become more steady with his legs and be able to finally catch up to those ever so playful pups.
Rex's retirement home will require a house that does not have a lot of stairs. As he is a senior citizen, it is very likely that he will need to remain on medication and/or supplements for the rest of his life due to his arthritis and ongoing mobility issues.
Rex is currently residing in a foster home with 2 dogs (1 puppy, 1 adult) as well as a senior cat and older children. He loves being brushed by the kids and spends most of his day cozied up on a bed in front of the fireplace when not with his foster mom at the doggy daycare where she works.
This gentle giant sure has made my family fall in love with him. We know there is a perfect retirement home out there and he will make his new family so happy!
